Hungary's Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2024
Introduction
Hungary will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) for the second time from 1 July 2024 to 31 December 2024. This is the final presidency in the twelfth trio of Council Presidencies, which began on 1 July 2022.Priorities and Focus Areas
Hungary's presidency programme outlines the following seven thematic priority areas for its term:
- Stronger, more resilient, and more competitive EU economy
- A focus on citizens' security and promoting the rule of law
- Addressing the challenges of migration and asylum

- Enhancing the EU's role in the world
- The future of Europe and the EU's strategic priorities
Hungary's Presidency Objectives
During its presidency, Hungary aims to:

- Represent the EU's interests on the international stage
- Provide leadership and direction for the EU's future development
