A Five-Set Epic for the Ages

In what was one of the most dramatic and exciting tennis matches in history, Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal in an epic five-set final at the 2012 Australian Open. The match lasted five hours and 53 minutes, making it the longest Grand Slam final ever played. Djokovic won the match 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, overcoming a two-set deficit to claim his third Australian Open title.

A Match for the Ages

The match was a back-and-forth affair, with both players trading blows from the baseline. Nadal won the first set, but Djokovic fought back to win the second and third sets. Nadal then won a tiebreaker in the fourth set to force a fifth set. In the fifth set, Djokovic broke Nadal's serve in the 12th game to take a 7-5 lead. He then served out the match to win the championship.
