Medvedev Reaches US Open Semifinals
Alcaraz Loss Marks Medvedev's Third Semifinal Appearance
Daniil Medvedev has reached the semifinals of the 2023 US Open, marking his third appearance in the final four of a Grand Slam tournament.
Medvedev defeated Carlos Alcaraz in a hard-fought match that lasted over three hours. This win marks Medvedev's second victory over Alcaraz this year, having also defeated him in the final of the Indian Wells Masters in March.
Medvedev will now face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals. Tsitsipas is the defending champion at the US Open, having won the title in 2021. The two players have met 11 times previously, with Tsitsipas holding a 7-4 advantage.
The Medvedev-Tsitsipas semifinal is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 9th. The winner will advance to the final, where they will face either Casper Ruud or Karen Khachanov.
